SAARC-ESCAP Subregional Workshop on
Strengthening Institutional Capacity to Support Energy Efficiency in South Asia

17 and 18 March 2011 | Thimphu, Bhutan

in partnership with
the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Energy Centre
and the Department of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan

Partcipants at the South Asia Workshop

This two-day Subregional Workshop gathered officials from member States in the South Asian subregion and the Royal Government of Bhutan and accomplished the following objectives:

1. Assessment of the project accomplishments by summarizing lessons learned, identifying strong points, and recognizing further opportunities for subregional collaboration on strengthening institutional capacity for energy efficiency

2. Development of a future programme of action that would expand energy efficiency institutional capacity programme at the national level and synergizing it to come up with a subregional effort in support of the proposed Asia Pacific Energy Forum
